Hi everyone! Today’s manicure features a polish from Nerd Lacquer. Can I be honest and say that I never “get” the names of Nerd Lacquer polishes? I guess I’m not nerd enough, but she makes some gorgeous polishes!
If you’ve been around the nail polish scene for awhile, you’ve heard of the sudden disappearance of this brand a few years ago and some ensuing drama about that. I was never affected and I hope everyone has been taken care of in regards to that. I never owned a Nerd Lacquer before she “disappeared” and was very happy when I came across a random restock she did back in 2013. I bought a ton of her polishes then and more when she reappeared again in 2014. I love her polishes but those first two groups of polishes I bought have been a sinky mess of glitter in the bottles. A very hard shake usually brings them around, but they look really bad in the bottles before shaking, some of the worst sinkers in all my indie polish collection.
Fast forward to about 9 months ago or so. The maker of this polish reopened her online shop and has been keeping it stocked and adding new polishes to the lineup too. I am so happy to see her back, I know she went through a really terrible time and I’m glad to see her back in business! So onto Nerd Lacquer Longwing.
Longwing is a deep slate blue base with orange hex glitter in two sizes and white hex glitter in the smaller size and a ton of aqua shimmer. I’ll say I bought this one back in October 2015 and it has stayed beautifully suspended. Hopefully she has changed her suspension base and corrected the sinky glitter problem. Formula was very good. On the first coat, don’t worry about getting glitter out or onto the nail perfectly. If you overwork the polish in spots, it pulls up the base and leaves a mess. On the second coat you will get a good distribution of glitter onto the nail with very little manipulation needed. I really like this one a lot! I used 2 coats plus 1 thick coat of topcoat.
