Hi everyone! I got inspiration for today’s manicure from the nail board on MUA. We have theme weeks and this week’s theme is “Summer”. These theme weeks can be interpreted any way you like, so, based on the name of the polish, I chose this milky white crelly with summer glitter. I was afraid of how many coats I would need on it’s own, so I chose to layer it over a white base. So I’ll start with the base color I used.
OPI Chiffon My Mind is a soft white with pink and blue micro shimmer. This is from the 2015 Soft Shades Collection. I knew I was just using this polish as “undies” so I wasn’t even trying to do a perfect job painting, but this nail polish really goes on and levels beautifully without any effort. I do just wish the shimmer was more noticeable on the nail. I used 2 coats plus topcoat for my manicure “undies” today.

Then on top of that I added Gloss ‘N Sparkle’s My Own Summer. This is a milky white crelly with two sizes of glitter in melon, purple, yellow and peach. I tested this on it’s own on my thumb and after 3 coats I found this to be quite streaky and much more creme like than crelly like.
After 3 coats and still having streaks, I wanted to do something. The polish didn’t need thinning, so I didn’t want to add any nail polish thinner, so I added some clear polish to the bottle to try to make it more sheer and crelly like. That really seemed to help a lot! So I added a fourth coat to my thumb and turned to my fingers.
I added about one and a half thick coats over the OPI base and it behaved very well! After one coat of topcoat some of the glitter was still a bit bumpy so I added another coat of topcoat. So here’s the finished product…

I broke my thumb nail the other day, so here is my sad thumb with only 4 coats of Gloss ‘N Sparkle My Own Summer and 2 coats of topcoat without any “undies”. I do like the added depth you get with all the layering.
