Hi everyone! So the new Essie Gel Couture Collection went on sale at Shoppers, so I picked up a couple more. For today’s manicure I chose Zip Me Up. I may not be as smitten with these as I was after the first two I tried!
Essie and I have been having problems lately. I don’t want to have to break up with them, but if I have to do two coats of polish I get bubbles galore! It really isn’t that noticeable on my nails in real life unless you really study my hands, but it’s still frustrating!
Essie Zip Me Up is the lightest pistachio green color. Really a nice color. The bottle shows shimmer which is not noticeable unless you are in bright light. You will see it in my flash photos below. Formula was good but streaky on the first coat. Second coat built up nicely and leveled off really well. But then the bubbles came. I know it wasn’t my topcoat because I hadn’t even used topcoat when I noticed the bubbles. It was the Essie. So I put one coat of a matte topcoat on trying to burst (hide) the bubbles then I topcoated it. Ugh! It’s still a nice polish, but I think I’m done buying Essie for awhile. I do still love the brush and to get great coverage in a color like this with just two coats is really nice. If you and Essie get along, you should pick up a couple of these new Gel Couture polishes.
