Hi everyone! Today’s manicure is from yet another ‘new to me’ brand of indie nail polish! This has been a couple of months with lots of new brands for me! It’s been fun finding some new loves with some of these brands! Illyrian’s shop is closed right now, but HERE is a link for when it opens back up. You can also find this brand at Color4Nails.com. Illyrian Winter Is Coming is from a Game of Thrones based collection of the same name as the polish. This is described by the maker as, “a dark denim blue base packed with silver holo glitters and flakes and a gorgeous blue flake”. There is so much holo glitter it is hard to see anything that looks like a flake on the nail, but my macro shot shows them, so I know they are there. This was a difficult one to get color accurate photos of. It is so overcast and rainy here today that I had to take only indoor photos. If any of my pictures look at all like a black base, just know that is wrong. It is definitely blue based (it can look blue/gray in some lights). I know the flash photos really darkened the color.
This had a very good formula. A little on the thick side, but not enough to need thinner yet. It dries really smooth and you only need one coat of topcoat. It is so sparkly, even indoors. I used 3 coats plus topcoat, but I think 2 coats would have been fine. I almost always paint in my office at night and the lighting is horrible so I usually default to three coats to be on the safe side. I like this one a lot and look forward to using more from this brand.
