Hey everyone! Today’s manicure is a pretty green from Zoya to get me in the Christmas mood.
Elphie is described by Zoya as, “…emerald green with a sugary green sparkle in the exclusive Zoya Pixiedust Matte Sparkle formula”. The important words there are Pixiedust, which means it is a textured polish, and Matte and Sparkle, which means it will dry to a matte finish but will still have a sparkle to it. I don’t really care for textured polishes that don’t have that sparkle, which is why that is an important descriptive word for me. If you really dislike the feeling of a textured polish, I have a hint to get them pretty smooth. I did this trick on my index and pinky fingers and I will describe it below. The formula on this was excellent! This is a great polish for Christmas time!
I used 2 coats of color on all my fingers then I did a different topcoat combination as described here:
Index: 1 coat matte topcoat, waited quite awhile then 1 coat of shiny topcoat. Hours later I did a second coat of shiny topcoat. This makes the polish pretty smooth, maybe an 8.5 out of 10. 1 more coat of shiny topcoat the next day would give you a smooth as glass feel.
Middle: I just left alone at 2 coats of color with the textured finish.
Ring: 2 coats of a matte topcoat applied hours apart.
Pinky: Exact same as index above.
Each of the topcoat combinations leaves my fingers at a different level of feel and sparkliness. I don’t mind the feeling of a textured polish so I really like it that way, but I also love the extra sparkle you get with shiny topcoat. This is a great polish, I really love it!
