Bee’s Knees Lacquer – Waggle Dance & Queen Bee // Launch Duo September 2017

Hi everyone! Today I have a couple polishes from a brand new Indie polish maker, Bee’s Knees Lacquer! She just launched last Friday and I already got my package in the mail! I’ve been watching her “pourn” and mixing videos on Instagram, and they looked really pretty so thought I’d give them a try.  Today I’m going to show you the launch duo because it is only available until this coming Sunday and 25% of the sales from this duo are being donated to help in the aftermath of the recent hurricanes. But you have to hurry and buy before Sunday, Sept. 17!!  You can find the Bee’s Knees website HERE.

I am not affiliated with Bee’s Knees Lacquer. I have a lot of photos today!

First I have to show you the packaging! Each bottle came in it’s own fabric bag with little bee’s on them and these were also inside bubble wrap pouches to keep them safe. A business card and a little bee eraser were also inside. Oh, I didn’t get a picture of it, but the box it came in also had a stamp of a bee on the outside. So cute! I love it when makers add an extra touch to their packages. To me it shows that they love their product and want to present it in the best way!

The Launch Duo consists of two polishes, Waggle Dance and Queen Bee. I’ll start with Waggle Dance which I wore as an accent nail. I almost didn’t buy this duo because gold polish and I don’t always get along, but I love it and really wanted the other color in this duo, so I gave it a try. I am so glad that I did! Waggle Dance is described on the website as, “a golden yellow base with copper shimmer and linear holo! This honey color is inspired by the dance bees use to communicate with each other to tell each other about nearby food sources”. I wrote down that it is an antique looking gold. I thought it had a tinge of green to it, but maybe not and the copper shimmer is a great touch! Oh, and yes, it’s holographic too!

Her formulas are on the thick side, which I personally always prefer. It stays right where you paint it, there is no running into the cuticles. The brush is also a really nice size. This is a big winner in my book! I used two coats plus topcoat on my middle nail.

Next up is Queen Bee. This is described on the website as, “a black base with green to gold shimmer, linear holo, and sparkly holo flakes! Inspired by the ruler of every bee hive and given a little extra sparkle because every queen deserves some bling!”. I wrote down that although this has a black base, the green shimmer really gives it the look of a green polish. The gold shimmer is really evident and the holo comes out in bright light or outside in the sun. I really love this color! But, my bottle is very clumpy. It appears to have unmixed pigment that came out in little clumps on every one of my fingers. It’s disappointing, but since this is such a dark color, it is not super visible to others. Someone would have to grab my hand and study it to be able to see them.  The polish though is beautiful and very deeply saturated in color! I used two coats plus topcoat for today’s manicure.

I think these two polishes go together very well, or of course they would be great on their own. Even with the small clumps, I’m glad I picked this duo up. I bought a total of 7 polishes on her launch day and I’ve swatched them all on my little swatch rings and this was the only one I noticed the clumping problem with. All the others appear to be nice and smooth. I will keep you updated on the rest as I wear them. They all look to be beautiful and quite unique to my collection.
