Hi everyone! Today’s mani is from the last Polish Pickup earlier this month. If you’re not familiar with Polish Pickup, it’s a group of indie makers coming together around a central theme each month to offer exclusive items for one weekend. That is the condensed version, you can read all about how it works HERE. You can find a lot of variety too: polishes, wax melts, lotions and oils, jewelry, stamping plates plus more! Every month has different things. Get ready for a new sale weekend too, this weekend (May 4-7, 2018) the website will be open and the theme will be The 90’s!
A great thing about Polish Pickup is you get charged a flat fee of $3 shipping within the US ($5 to Canada) no matter how many polishes you buy or how many orders you make throughout the weekend it’s open! If you place multiple orders, you will be refunded excess shipping charges later in the month when shipping starts.
April’s theme was ‘Across the Universe: Planets & Galaxies’. I bought quite a few from April and this Contrary was the first one I chose to wear. If you like this from Contrary Polish, you can find her other polishes HERE. I am not affiliated with Polish Pickup or Contrary Polish.

Cocoon Galaxy is described by the maker as, “Muted periwinkle magnetic polish with pink shimmer, holo microflakes, and antique gold magnetic shimmer”. I wrote in my notes that it is a blue gray base with silver flakies and copperish and pink shimmer. This is not a strong magnetic, the line it makes is very muted but you can see it and I like the more subtle magnetic line. The magnet draws together all that copper/gold shimmer and darkens the base color a little. This also appears to be a blue/gray base indoors but in brighter light and outside it appears more of a blue/purple tone. It’s really pretty both ways! The pictures below all look different but they are true to life (on my monitor) for the lighting situation I was in.
The formula was excellent! It applies smooth and easy and dries smooth too, just one coat of topcoat is needed. It has a nice brush too. I’m really loving this one! I used two coats plus topcoat. I only used the magnet after the second coat of color. This polish came with a magnet also, but I used one of the other magnets I already had, a long skinny one from Bee’s Knees. This is a nice polish to wear without using a magnet also. I have a couple photos of it all alone at the bottom of the post.

Here it is without using a magnet on my thumb. You can see it looks a little lighter because the copper/gold shimmer is uniform over the nail instead of being drawn up with the use of the magnet on my other fingers.
