EC Cosmetics – Dip Powder System, Soak Off Gel, Polygel

Press Sample - Pink

Hi everyone! I was sent a sampling of items that EC Cosmetics offers awhile ago to try out and review. I was sent a couple of colors in a Soak Off Gel, a DIP powder system, and some Polygel. They have even more items for sale in their online store and their Ebay store.

You can find this company’s store HERE at Store.ECNail.com and you can read all about their products HERE at ECNail.com. The websites are easy to navigate and user friendly.

They also have an Ebay store HERE at www.ebay.com/str/gelikeecstore. I just got notice that they are having a sale in their Ebay store!! From now until Nov 12 use code I Love Gelike to save 10% in the Ebay store only! Make sure to note the code when placing an order!!

These items were sent to me to use and review. My included links are not affiliate links, I do not receive something if you click on them. They are there solely for your convenience! They do open in a new window so if you use a pop up blocker they will not work.

I’ve had these items for quite awhile because I was excited to try a DIP Powder System for the first time and wanted to really give it a run for it’s money! I couldn’t use it for an extended time on all my nails, so I did a test on just my thumb. Boy did it exceed my expectations!

I chose to use a pretty, sparkly pink dip (Number 53) so it would hold my attention for an extended period. This was so sparkly and beautiful with a lot of depth! It almost looks 3 Dimensional!

I wasn’t sure of what to do with the three bottles and powder, but EC Nail has a video demonstration on their website (HERE) to follow. This is a very easy system. I need a little practice (I got it a little too far over onto my side cuticle) but not bad for a first try! It’s pretty fool-proof! You don’t need a light to cure this either.

Here’s the whole system, everything you will need…

Here’s all you have to do:

  • Apply a coat of the base coat and dip your nail into the powder
  • Brush or tap off excess powder from your nail
  • Apply a second coat of base coat and dip into the powder again
  • Brush or tap off excess powder
  • Apply the Activator
  • In the video they then say to “clean the surface” which looks like you just need to file it down smooth. This was not difficult to do, it was not extremely bumpy or anything. This was the step I was most worried about with seeing other systems out there. I was afraid I would not be able to get it smooth, but I hardly filed at all and it was completely smooth. Very easy!
  • Apply a coat of the top coat and your done!

After it dried it made my nail feel very strong like nothing could destroy it! Here I am on Day 1 of application…

I wore this for 17 days!! Yes, 17 days!! It still looked brand new too except for the growth at my cuticle line. It had not faded or chipped at all. Here it is at day 17…

It was starting to lift so I knew it was time to remove it. It removed very easily. I soaked in my Target scrubby tub for about 15 seconds then chipped off some with an orangewood stick and repeated that until I had it all off. I did not scruff up the top with a file or anything like that. It took a total of 4-5 minutes to remove. My nail still felt very strong too, not weak at all. There was some dehydration on the nail (some of that may have come from the scrubby tub acetone soaking) but I applied some Vapid Nail Sauce, let that soak in and it was back to normal and still strong! Here’s how it chipped off in removal for me and what my thumb looked like right after removing it…

So I was very pleased with this Dip System! I could see using this, in a clear or natural color, as a base to keep your nails from breaking (or to save a broken nail to give it time to grow out) or in a color or sparkly glitter to go on an extended vacation!

You can read all about this system here: ecnail.com/dip-powder-system/

Next up they sent me two Soak Off Gel colors. I used color No. 40, a bright fuchsia pink. For this swatch I used just 1 coat over my own gel polish base and topcoat. It went on smooth and easy and covered really well too! I probably should have done a second coat, but I was happy with just one coat.

This is a 3 step gel system with base and top coat needed. I did not get sent their base and top coat so I just used one I had here already. They have a lot of colors to choose from. I love the two colors they sent me!! Here it is on my nails…

Here are both colors they sent…

They also offer a 1 step gel product, no lamp needed gel product and platinum glitter gels. You can follow the links above and find out about all those products too!

Lastly they sent me Polygel. I was a little nervous about trying this system. They do have a video tutorial online and it looks quite easy actually, but I didn’t have any nail tips and it looks like they are needed, so I didn’t actually try this.

If you use and like Polygel, the price seems very reasonable and right now, as I’m writing this, they have a buy 1 get 1 free promotion in their webstore! Here’s the system they sent me and the back of the bottle showing the ingredients…
