Hey everyone! There’s another new indie polish brand that opened up recently and I was honored to have been asked to swatch and review 6 of the 30 debut polishes she has for sale on Etsy! Down below I will also have a quick ‘get to know the maker’ Q & A with Kripa, the owner and maker.
Go check out her Etsy store at www.etsy.com/shop/navnibeauty, you will not be disappointed. There is such a great assortment of colors you’re bound to find a few you need!
They come in 12 ml rectangular bottles with a great brush. They are all Vegan, Cruelty-Free and 5-Free and they are priced at just $10 each.
This is going to be a long, picture heavy post!
NAVNI Beauty (partial) Debut Collection
So that I don’t just repeat myself for all 6 of these polishes, know that they all had excellent formulas. They stay right where you paint them without running or pooling into your cuticles. They all had smooth and even coverage, there was no streaking or balding or unevenness, even on the first coat. I love the brush on these too, it was just perfect. I used just 2 coats for each one. I loved each and every one of these and can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us!
Keep reading to the bottom of the post to get to know Kripa, the maker.
NAVNI Beauty Icicle Creek – This is described as, “A medium teal green with contrasting purple/blue color shifting shimmer and scattered holographic microflakes”. As I was applying it I wrote it looked like a deep seafoam with a strong contrasting purple shimmer and alot of scattered holographic flecks. Super easy and smooth to apply! I used 2 coats plus topcoat…

NAVNI Beauty Purpleberry – This is described as, “A deep purple with pink and purple shimmery microflecks”. I wrote I saw it as a deep grape purple jelly base with bright blue micro glitter. I could always tell it was purple unless I was in very low lighting, then it just looked dark. Smooth and easy to apply. It dries shiny. I used 2 coats plus topcoat…

NAVNI Beauty Space Eggplant – This is described as, “A sparkly duochrome with green to purple shifting shimmer in a dark purple base with scattered holographic microglitter”. I think this is probably one of her most popular colors! As I was applying it I wrote it had a purple base with sparkly purple to green shifting shimmer and a delicate holo micro glitter. So smooth and easy! I used 2 coats (the second coat deepens the color) plus topcoat…

So I asked Kripa if she would answer a few questions so we could all get to know her a little bit. Here is what she had to say…
Tell me a little about yourself…
I am a 37 y/o first generation Indian. I was born in South India and moved to the US with my parents when I was 9 yrs old. I am married and have two amazing little boys. I work full time as a physician/surgeon and in my free time when I’m not making polish, I love to dabble in knitting, crocheting and just doodling patterns in my notebook.
When did you first get into nail polish/indie polish?
I have probably always been fascinated with colors in general and nail polish in particular since before I moved to the US. I still have a few bottles in my possession that I bought in my teens, old Sinfuls and OPIs. I remember getting my first really good manicure when I was closer to 20. That’s when I realized what a good paint job actually looks like and what a poor hack job I was doing on myself, lol. The color was OPI I’m Not Really A Waitress. Then as I got busy with school work in college and beyond, it sort of fell by the wayside until I picked it up again in residency as quick way to destress. That was in 2012. I started following the MUA forums at that time, started a blog of my own, and the obsession, ahem, passion just snowballed from there.
Why did you decide to start your own polish brand?
It just seemed like the natural progression of my deepening interest in polish. I also have a strong need to engage in creative work on an almost daily basis and my day job doesn’t provide that. The desire to make my own polish had existed for a couple of years already and in early 2018, my life circumstances and my interest in making my own polish finally combined in a really optimal way. At first I wasn’t sure I would do much selling but then when I got really positive feedback from the people around me, plus with encouragement from my husband, I decided to sell!
How did you choose / What is the meaning behind your brand name, NAVNI Beauty?
My dad helped me come up with that one. It’s a combination of parts of my two sons’ names. Google search tells me it also maybe means “new”?
Where do you get your inspiration for colors and polish names?
Polish colors are far easier than polish names. My colors can be inspired by anything! In the past, they have been inspired by cars, fabrics, nature. Sometimes I get colors that were happy accidents! Polish names are more of a struggle. If there is a theme then I can pick based on that. For my Debut collection, I just went with what the polish color reminded me of. Of course I had help from some friends as well.
Thank you Kripa for taking the time to answer those questions for me!
So what do you all think? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
I loved every one of these and would not hesitate to buy more (if I wasn’t on a low, low buy right now). I wish Kripa all the best in this new journey and it was a pleasure to swatch part of her debut collection!
