OPI – Be A Dahlia Won’t You // Summer 2011 Nice Stems Collection

Hi everyone! Today’s manicure is an oldie but goodie. Way back in 2011 OPI released the Nice Stems collection, and this was one of the four polishes in that collection.

My bottle of Be A Dahlia Won’t You is a mini size. It’s been years since I’ve tried using an OPI mini bottle because the first (and last) time I used one I hated it! The brush seemed tiny and the bottle is tiny and hard to manage while painting. I have quite a few of these mini’s though and this one was sitting here on my desk after a reorganization of my stash so I thought I’d try again.

Maybe my skills have improved a bit but it wasn’t as horrible as I remembered. Now, my nails aren’t nearly as long as they were back then either, so that would make a difference in the ease of painting too. But yeah, I didn’t want to throw it against the wall, so that’s a big improvement!

Another thing that irks me about OPI mini’s is there is never a name label on the bottle. They do however almost always have letters and numbers stamped on the bottom of the bottle. If you decipher those letters and numbers, you can put them into Google and the name will come up for you. Deciphering them does often take a few tries though (at least for me). Here’s the bottom of my bottle today:

At first I thought it was NL 540 (nope). Then I tried NL 340 (nope). Then I thought, maybe it’s HL so I tried both ways (nope, nope). Then I thought maybe it’s NL S40 (ding, ding, ding…we have a winner!). So that’s how I know that today’s polish is Be A Dahlia Won’t You.

This is a bright pink with pink and purple glass fleck shimmer. It’s so pretty and so shiny! It is on the sheer side. I used three coats plus top coat today and can still make out a bit of nail line, mainly just on one finger though. (Now that I’m thinking about it, I wonder if I missed the third coat on that finger??) Anyway, if you happen upon this one in a destash sale, and you like pink shiny things, pick it up. You won’t be disappointed.
