Hi everyone! Today’s mani is a gorgeous one from Great Lakes Lacquer. Back in January 2018 she had a hugely popular polish in Polish Pickup called Glass on Fire. It was just gorgeous! So luckily for us, this fall she came up with a whole collection based around that polish. I had to get the whole collection as soon as I could and this is the first one I’m wearing. Ember of Glass was described as, “A fiery coral red jelly filled with blue to purple to green shifting shimmer, multichrome pigment to boost that glow and red to gold to green iridescent flake”. I wrote that I saw it as a pinky red jelly base loaded with red and blue micro shimmer and tons of color shifting flakies. I love that blue shimmer that’s in there! The jelly base gives the finished manicure so much depth.
This had a great formula! It stays put, there was no running or pooling into my cuticles. It was easy to apply but I did let it dry for quite awhile between coats. Otherwise the flakies may have wanted to drag and lift a little bit with subsequent coats. (Since I let it dry between coats I did not have that problem at all). Being that it is a jelly base, even with two or three coats you may still see a little visible nail line. I don’t notice it too much with three coats. It dries completely smooth with just one coat of topcoat. Love it!
Great Lakes Lacquer Ember of Glass, 3 coats plus 1 coat of topcoat. I also added a matte topcoat for some of the photos. The captions under the pictures will tell you if it’s glossy or matte.
