Hi everyone! Today I have the 6 piece Essie collection called Gorgeous Geode. This is a collection of six ultra holo fleck neutral polishes. I bought this at 8ty8beauty.com a couple weeks ago. I am not affiliated with 8ty8 or Essie.
This is a long, picture heavy post!

These polishes look like they would be chunky and gritty from seeing the bottles but they apply so easily and dry completely smooth! All of them had excellent formulas! They all went on smooth and even. I did not use any special basecoat but I did not overwork the polish and I let all coats dry before adding another coat. It’s been awhile since I’ve worn an Essie polish and I have to say I am loving the new wider brush! These have a super strong holo flame but they also look scattered (best of both worlds!). They dry pretty fast, for most of them I wore 2 coats and I did not add a topcoat. These do not seem to be holo glitter but rather a gold holo fleck which made removal very easy in my opinion. I love this whole collection!
Essie Gorgeous Geode Collection
- Essie Gorge-ous Geode – This is the namesake polish for the collection. A few color descriptors came to mind as I was applying and wearing this: apricot, light terracotta and rosy gold. Any of those actually fit it. I used 2 coats without topcoat.

- Essie Of Quartz – This is a bronzy golden color. This one had a bit of a runny formula so be careful how much polish you leave on the brush before painting. It’s a nice neutral with a kick! I used 3 coats without topcoat.

- Essie Rock Your World – This is a silver with those golden ultra holo flecks. For this one I tried a topcoat but I thought it may have dulled the holo so I added one more coat of polish to my middle nail only. After it all dried I don’t think the topcoat dulled anything. I used 2 coats plus topcoat (3 coats without topcoat on my middle nail only).

- Essie Semi-precious Tones – This is golden nude ultra holo fleck. I used 2 coats without topcoat.

- Essie You’re A Gem – This is a bronzy golden with holo flecks. This is just a shade deeper than Of Quartz. I used 2 coats without topcoat.

Outside in the sun. I wore this for about 2.5 days before the sun finally came out again. So when I saw the sun, I grabbed my camera to run outside and get some photos without even thinking about the fact that I’d just worn this polish for 2.5 days. So you will see some tip wear in these pictures but what you don’t see is any chipping. And this was without topcoat too…

There is the whole collection, what do you think? Let me know in the comments! I love all of them but my favorites would be Stop, Look & Glisten, Gorge-ous Geode, and Rock Your World.

Well, there we have it!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

I am a fool for holographic anything and about fainted with delight looking at this post. Your photos are beautiful and showing the polish in different light is so helpful (especially with holo polishes). Thank for your thoroughness and detail! I too may have to order the entire collection!! Could you answer a question – what do you mean by “overwork the polish”?? Thanks!

Hi Miss Maggie!
Thanks so much for the kind words, I’m so happy you enjoyed the post and found it useful!
What I mean when I say don’t overwork the polish is to not keep going over the same area. Try to lay down the polish in as few strokes as possible. If you overwork the polish you may see that it starts to lift up some of the polish you’ve already painted and leaves behind balding or streaks. Does that make sense?
Thanks again and if you get this collection I hope you love it!!
